you will write a thesis-driven essay that uses literary analysis to support its primary claim. However, for this assignment you will develop your own problem to solve about either Henry V or The Tempest. All of the advice that applied to the second assignment apply to this one: you should focus closely on and unpack the language of whatever text you decide to write about, but you will do so strategically and selectively.
Your problem should arise from some specific, interpretive difficulty in the play. For example: What does Katherine’s English-language lesson in act 3, scene 4 reveal about her character? How does Henry use figurative language in his threats against the French in his response to the ambassador at the end of act 1? What does the character of the Boy in act 4, scene 3 of Henry V add to the play’s depiction of war? Your introductory paragraph should directly state the question/problem to which your thesis is the answer/solution.
Requirements
Your paper should be between 900 and 1,200 words and formatted in MLA style (consult the OWL at Purdue website if you are unfamiliar with MLA style). You should come up with an original title for your paper that reflects the argument of your paper. You should not consult any secondary sources.
