In Chapter 11 and Module 12, we learn about problems in the criminal
justice system. One of the topics introduced was the impact of having a
criminal record on people’s lives. This discussion assignment requires
you to explore the We Are All Criminals website and to compare the
experiences of those who “got away with it” to the experiences of those
who did not.
To start, go to https://www.weareallcriminals.org (Links to an external site.).
Once you’re there, read the personal accounts under “Luxury to Forget”
(those who “got away with it”) and “More Than My Mugshot” (those who
didn’t). Click each box to open up the full story.
After reading these personal accounts and reviewing the relevant material, please answer the following two questions, making sure that you clearly link your response to the website and the chapter:
In what ways did avoiding a criminal record impact the lives of
people with the “luxury to forget”? Provide specific examples to support
your argument.
In what ways did having a criminal record impact the lives of people
who are “more than [their] mugshot”? Provide specific examples to
support your argument.
In addition, please reply to at least one of our classmates’ posts
with thoughtful feedback regarding their answer to these questions.
Remember to keep your feedback factual and respectful of your fellow
classmates.
