Establish a specific intellectual focus, position, and argument on its
topic
• Show evidence of scholarly engagement through in-text citations, as
well as either footnotes, a bibliography, or a works cited page. That is,
research your topic using scholarly/academic/peer-reviewed sources,
and refer to and cite them properly in your project. A minimum of TWO
scholarly sources outside of the assigned readings for the course are
required.
• Show evidence of close reading and interpretation
• Show evidence of critical analysis and scholarly engagement with
course materials
Write a traditional 5-7 page
paper on one of the authors,
texts, or topics of the course.
Like any scholarly paper, your
essay should include a thesis
argument and show evidence
of scholarly engagement
